Macro Group for Stream Deck App

Hi,

I'd like to create a macro group for the Stream Deck app. It is not a regular application, though and does not show up in the list of apps in KM. It also does not have a window title as far as I can tell.

Does anybody know how I can make macros available in that app only?

Thanks,
Julian

I do not think it is possible to make macros only for Stream Deck or any other app which is “menu bar only”.

Can you explain what you want to do and maybe we can come up with another solution?

Thanks. That is what I thought. KM uses that application that was active before or actually is still active.

I don't use the KM plugin in Stream Deck, because it is annoying that you can't move keys around without re-assigning them in KM. There is a SD plugin that runs Apple Scripts, that I use to trigger KM macros and in order to do that, I copy the UUID and then have a KM macro that pasts the Apple Script with the UUID already filled in into the SD app.

As a workaround, I just put that macro into the macro group for KM, because my workflow starts there and when I change to the SD app, KM is still active. That is good enough for now, but you have a better idea, I'd more that happy.

Julian

Hi @jhein - I don’t like the KM support for Stream Deck, so I use the SD plugin created by @corcules to trigger KM macros using my SD.

The advantage is that you don’t need AppleScript - the plugin uses the actual names of KM macros which is obviously easier to use. I know of a number of KM users who swear by this plugin.

Definitely agree that KMLink is easier to use if all you need is a ‘trigger’ for a Keyboard Maestro macro.

Personally I found the SD plugin for AppleScripts to be unreliable at doing even simple things. YMMV, of course.
