Hello, I find it very convenient in terms of screen real-estate to use always active in a specific app shrinking palettes,
The problem is that when I am working in Forklift file manager, there are some macros which are triggered by drag and drop which does not work with a shrinking palette (because app (in this case forklift) menu items are greyed out when the palette expands).
Is there a way to write a macro to macro to shrink / unshrink a specific palette ?

Not really, no.
You could possibly have a macro that appears for one action, that contains the desired macros (using the Show Palette of Macros action) and trigger that when needed and then drag the things in.
