Mission Control & Immediately Show Desktop Preview

Hello to all,

I'm wondering if someone can help me on how to evoke Mission Control and immediately show desktop preview. It's a feature from BetterTouchTool, but I'm trying to mimic it in KM.

Mission Control & Immediately Show Desktop Preview (video)

The trick is that the mouse must be on the menubar when the Mission Control action is executed.

So with BTT you do the following

  1. save current mouse position
  2. move mouse to the menu bar
  3. Activate Mission Control
  4. Move mouse back to saved position

Yes. Thank you.

However, I was wondering if the same can be done with KM.

With which trigger? Shortcut?

Mission Control has an macos shortcut. Then this should work with KM. The other 3 actions can certainly be performed with KM.

I can't do that, but someone will help you for sure :slightly_smiling_face:

This works. What is missing is saving and restoring the original mouse position.

Thank you.

(And then I realize how basic my knowledge of KM is... so simple your suggestion!)

You are welcome. They can hardly be worse than my KM knowledge :joy: But fortunately I understand something about BTT. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi, @valente. With Ventura, there are at least two options.

First, you can display Mission Control using a macOS Settings-defined key like I've done below (Right Shift):

As @Frankb mentioned, if you want to see the various Mission Control Desktop Spaces you need to move the mouse to the top of the screen (either before or after pressing Right Shift).

Another method is to configure a Hot Corner and use the following macro.

Download: Activate Mission Control via Hot Corner.kmmacros (22 KB)

Macro-Notes
  • Macros are always disabled when imported into the Keyboard Maestro Editor.
    • The user must ensure the macro is enabled.
    • The user must also ensure the macro's parent macro-group is enabled.

System Information
  • macOS 13.4 (22F66)
  • Keyboard Maestro v10.2

Note, in general, to prevent accidental activation, I prefer to define my Hot Corners with a modifier (e.g., with ⌥ Put Display to Sleep and ⌥ Desktop), but when I tried that with Mission Control, I was unable to activate it with the above shortcut modified to include a Press and Hold Option Modifier and short Pause before the mouse move.

Maybe someone else has a better way.
