Music Folders and subfolders, Compare and Pull missing files from A to B

I have a large collection of Mp3/M4a files on multiple drives in multiple states. Comprised of Main folder:
Artist folder,
Album folder,
Files. In Typical Apple Music Folder Layout.
And I would like to combine, All into one collection with out duplicates.

Suggestions Please...

Thanks in advance

When you say "duplicates" do you mean that duplicates are determined by the file's name or by the file's contents?

I'm not aware what the phrase "in typical Apple Music Folder Layout"" means.

I suspect you could do the file merging manually, and treat the duplication issue as a separate task.

IF you are in Apple Music there is a preference for Importing and organizing Music Files. when it does it which is set by default, Its Artist, Album, File.

Duplicates as in Finder Brought in 2 or 3 copies at one point or another and appended the name with a space 1, space 2, space 3.mp3 or .m4a

I have
Hundreds of artist folders, and thousands of subfiles

Hey Jay,

This is a massive job, and I think one not well suited to Keyboard Maestro and hacking around.

I'd look for a proper iTunes tool.

I have not used any of the methods below myself.

Make sure you have a backup before mucking about.

iTunes has the built-in feature to find and delete duplicate items.

  1. Open iTunes. Choose Songs in the Library section.
  2. Go to the menu bar, choose File > Library >Show Duplicate Items.
  3. Select the duplicate item you want to delete. From the menu bar, go to Song > Delete.

Consolidate your iTunes library

There are hundreds of hits, so if the built-in tool doesn't do the job you have options.

There's at least one dupe-remover on the app-store:
