Notifications not sliding out from top-right after macOS upgrade

Keyboard Maestro version 9.2

My notifications aren't sliding out any more. This has happened to me in the past, and I'm pretty sure I've solved it by uninstalling, reinstalling, and then accepting the permissions as they come in again. I think I even posted here in the forums, but I didn't find it after a cursory search.

Even if uninstall is the solution, it still means I'd have to re-enter my registration key every time I upgrade the OS, so I'd like to avoid that.

Steps

  1. Upgrade macOS. I recently upgraded to 11.5.1, but this isn't the first time this has happened, so I don't think it's specific to 11.5.1.
  2. Upon restarting into the new OS, a notification for KEYBOARD MAESTRO ENGINE is displayed that reads "Notifications may include alerts, sounds, and icon badges", with the option to 'Allow' or 'Don't Allow'
  3. Click 'Allow'
  4. Create a macro with a 'Display Text' action and write anything in there.
  5. Run the macro

Expected Result
A banner style notification animates from the top right side of the screen with the text entered.

Actual Result
Nothing happens, although clicking on the Date/Time slides the notification tray out, and the banner notification text is then visible.

...

Note that this works on all my other KM installations, and the notifications system settings are identical across all 5 of my machines running KM.

@peternlewis - Any ideas? Have you seen my video above where I accept notifications but then none are being shown?

Check your System Preferences, Notifications settings. I could get that behaviour with settings for Keyboard Maestro Engine like this:

Specifically, the None alert style, but Show in Notification Centre turned on.

Yep, that was my first check. Alert style is definitely set to "Banners" and not "None". For both KM and KM Engine. Everything else is set as you have it in your screenshot.

How about the Privacy settings in the System Preference?
I think I had this issue before and the issue was with the privacy settings. I forgot where exactly, maybe "Accessibility".

Hard to say. There's Privacy > Accessibility for allowing apps to "control your computer". KM and KM Engine both have permission to do that

Maybe you can removing them and re-add them back. I read somewhere on the forum an issue needing removing and re-adding them back to the Accessibility or something. But I don't if this is related to notification... It doesn't hurt to try though.

Check if your computer isn’t set to Do not Disturb (DND).
If DND is on, you won’t see any notifications.

Can't believe this was it! I don't recall turning it on either...
