Is there a way to let VLC open a file (already selected in Finder)?

Use the Action Open the Finder Selection and choose VLC from the dropdown menu of that Action:

Hi and many thanks, When I test out the macro all I get is a small menu with the option to open in VLC. i.e. it doesn't actually open the file. What am I doing wrong?

I wonder if the small menu you are seeing is the Conflict Palette. If you have given the same hotkey to more than one Macro the Conflict Palette will open, allowing you to choose which of the Macros you want to run.

Oops my mistake. I was using a hotkey that produced the wrong action. I've changed the hotkey and it's perfect - very many thanks. Richard
