Overriding a MacOS "Message" URL scheme

I have a Maestro set up where it takes an email from my Outlook desktop client, forwards it to a Things 3 email address (for importing the mail as a task) by raising a prompt window with a variable (which gets pasted as the task name in the subject line of the outgoing email, since this then becomes the Things 3 task name, with part of the email - it gets truncated - as the task note). Since Things 3 doesn't handle attachments, it pastes the first few hundred characters of the email and then includes a link to the message. However, this link, which starts with "message:" followed by a unique ID for the email, opens in Mac Mail, rather than my preferred outlook. Does anyone know of a way to override this, perhaps as an extra step that appends the correct application name into the link? There is no "Open With" option when I right click on the link.

Hey Jonathan,

At the top of the General Prefs Panel of Apple Mail you can set the default email reader.

Hi - thanks for the tip but I already have that set and the message: link still opens in Mail. I should have mentioned that in my original post!

Hmm...

Have you asked on the Things forum?
