If I use a simple prompt from List action, how can I allow for multiple selection either contiguous with shift click or non contiguous with Cmd-click.

I looked at and installed @DanThomas‘ spotlight search macro which you surely know and I’m embarrassed to admit that I don’t understand what advantages it has over the prompt from the list macro. May I ask you if you could give me some vague idea the difference?
Basically, Dan's excellent macro offers a lot more flexibility than KM's list action, with the disadvantage that it's a bit more complex to use and not as fast (in my testing, KM's prompt runs just as fast with tens of thousands of items as it does with a few dozen, whereas the spotlight search macro starts chugging once you get into the thousands).
