Running El Capitan on a 2012 (I think) MacBook Pro. I didn’t install any new software or upgrade or nothin’!

Clearly something changed. Think carefully. Review your Mac App Store, and other apps for auto-updates.

Of course, you have done a restart of your Mac, right?
