Tips for reducing slow execution and lag time?

Pre-compiling apparently makes little difference. You still have to instantiate the environment they'll run in, so if there is a difference it'll only become noticeable with the longer scripts.

Yet in the topic "Does a pre-compiled AppleScript run faster?", there is this:

As I understand it, improvements in speed may be most noticeable for shorter scripts, as most of the lag is in the initialization.

I really don't know and was just thinking back to "saving as an app" within Script Editor.
