The one action macro below simply toggles the applications palette.
I find it very useful because it saves learning so many keyboard shortcuts for each app.
In terms of speed of workflow, I am looking for a way to place the palette under the mouse (an option for macro group palettes, but not actions as far as I understand.

I get that to modify this applescript to work with a Macro pallette you can modify the string "Applications" in your script to be "Macros", I still can't get this to work with a "Show palette of Macros", anything else that needs to be modified?

Thanks CCstone, I am going your suggested route.
I think the downside here is that you need a group for an app that you want to be able to trigger system wide and then a group for the pallete you want to trigger inside the app, it is not a big deal though
