The second linked article appears to be written by Ken Case (Omni Staff).
But he does state:
Sal Soghoian is putting together a website that goes into a lot more depth about how to actually use the scripting environment (with sample code, etc.). You'll find it over at Omni Group Automation.
It is interesting that Sal Soghoian, the former Apple Product Manager for Automation, is now promoting the use of JXA.
He also makes use of the "JXA" acronym:
By default, all of the macOS versions of the Omni applications offer robust integrated AppleScript and JavaScript (JXA)* support for Apple Events scripting on the Mac. These excellent automation tools will continued to be integrated into every macOS version of Omni software.
(JXA) is an OSA (Open Scripting Architecture) script language in macOS. Introduced in OS X Yosemite, JXA is a peer of the AppleScript language and as such has access to all macOS scriptable apps, frameworks, and native UNIX utilities.
