Unable to set the Magic TrackPad 2 as a USB Device Key trigger

Is anyone else having this issue? I had no trouble back when I used a 1st gen TrackPad, and I’m able to set the force touch TrackPad on my 2016 MacBook Pro as a trigger, but I’ve not had anyluck with the 2nd gen TrackPad.
