I've read multiple posts on this, but it doesn't seem there is any elegant way to move a window to a separate desktop. Has anyone come up with new ways to do this (other than clicking the top of window and doing a shortcut - that hasn't worked reliably for me)?
I have a macro set up that arranges my windows when plugging in to multiple monitors and I'd like to have it resize the windows and organize them when I unplug to just use laptop (i.e. 3 monitors -> 1 monitor, but use 3 desktops)
To be clear -- are you talking about desktops as in your separate displays (as implied by your "multiple monitors") or the Desktops, aka Spaces, that are the OS "virtual desktops"?
There's been lots of posts about moving windows between screens, but it's all quite situational. If that's what you want to do, what are you trying to achieve and what problems are you having?
I would like to resize 4 apps on desktop 1, then resize 2 apps on desktop 2, then resize 1 app on desktop 3
Yes... I was hoping maybe we had a better option.. I tried the techniques in the thread listed but it wasn't working consistently for me. It would drop the window in the wrong desktop or just not work (not surprising as it's kind of hacky)
Then you seem to be aware that KM cannot solve this issue, at least not to the degree of reliability that you want.
There might be other tools out there that use undocumented APIs to solve this problem. I just googled it and found a free and open source utility called Spaceman. Let us know if it helps you.
