Why is Application Switcher not working now

I'm not sure what has changed, but as of a couple of days ago cmd+tab no longer brings up the KM Application Swticher. I've changed the shortcut to KM App Switcher to cmd+`, which solves the problem. I've tried to find a way to disable MacOS shortcut cmd+tab to avoid a conflict but it seems baked in.

Have I accidentally clicked something somewhere....?

I don't know what's wrong, but your question is one I've asked myself many times before.

Or its variant: "Oh wow - something cool just happened. I wonder how I did it?!"

Sorry for not being more helpful.

If Command-Tab doesn't work, it's almost always due to secure text input, which can be enabled in many apps (and web sites, for that matter). When the application switcher isn't working, can you use other KM macros? Check KM's menu bar icon, too, as it'll try to tell you if something is preventing it from working.

This may not be the answer, but it's the first thing that comes to mind, as it happens often.

Thanks @griffman. I can use other MK macros and will keep an eye out for the happenings in the KM menu bar icon, but nothing suggests that something is preventing it from working... it's just like the macro does not exist or is not activated (both of which I have double and triple checked multiple times)... it just defaults to the MacOS default application switcher.

Anyway, I'll keep playing around and report back if I find a solution.

@DanThomas, I'm pleased I'm not the only one!

Command-Tab has to intercept the system Command-Tab facility, which is not done as a macro, so it has to be done at quite a low level, and depends on the system ordering of the interceptions.

Rebooting, or relaunching the Keyboard Maestro Engine may affect the ordering of keyboard inception, as may toggling the enable for the macros triggered by Command-Tab (or any of its variants).
