Why sometimes Application Switcher panel not disappear?

Sometimes, when i quickly press cmd+tab to switch between the applications, the application switcher panel pop up but not disappear, instead, i will have to use mouse to choose which application that I wanna switch to. Why this panel appear at this moment?

I’m hoping to quickly switch between last application and current application, but not showing any panel to choose app. How can I do that?

Fortunately, there's an action in Keyboard Maestro that will do exactly this, without bringing up a panel. Here's a sample to get you started. Feel free to change the trigger hot key to one that better suits your preferences.
