Keyboard Maestro 7.0

Keyboard Maestro 7.0 requires OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 or later.

Version 7 refines the editor in a variety of ways, adding autocomplete, inserting actions by name, coloring and renaming actions, integrated access to the wiki help, macro triggering and modification history and much more.

Version 7 allows macros to be specific to particular windows, adds window, folder and clipboard changed triggers, supports double and triple tap hot key triggers, and a new sleep trigger.

You can now customise your Macro Palettes (Toolbars) in a wide range of colors and styles to suit your needs or preferences.

This version adds a new Custom HTML Form action, Switch/Case statements, a Group action, simulating hardware keys and modifiers, support for press-and-hold of buttons, keys and modifiers. Version 7 embraces Swift and JavaScript for Automation (JXA), adding support for executing those scripts and using them in conditions.

The Found Image facilities are enhanced further by allowing control over where on the screen to look for the image.

That is a huge list! Kudos!

Will the style of the Clipboard History Switcher be able to customized with the Themed Palette Styles? If nothing else, I want to be able to display all of the clipboard items in plain text (as opposed to formatted).

No, there are no changes to the appearance of the Clipboard History Switcher for 7.0 (it was one of the last features to be dropped from the 7.0 list). However given there are issues with the display of Clipboard History Switcher in El Capitan, if Apple do not resolve the bugs in El Capitan, then it will rapidly become a high priority.

(Again:) Very nice! I’ve posted the news in our CafeTran forum:

https://cafetran.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/6000007577

Wow ;-).
Is it already available?

@selsrog

I hope it becomes a priority either way, as clipboard history is the only type of utility that I consider running a separate utility for. I'd love to have a preference to display all of the clipboard contents in plain text. Take a look at how my clipboard looks at times (ignore the personal info that I blurred out):

Version 7.0 adds a menu to the status menu that you can paste from, and that it plain text (and you can paste as plain text as well by holding the shift key down). Perhaps that's useful?

I knew about the shift key for pasting (which is great). I am mainly interested in the display of the menu/palette.

Version 7’s Paste menu (in the Status menu) is what I want. Is there a way to invoke that with a keyboard shortcut?

There is no straight forward way to open the Paste menu.

You can use the Show Status Menu action to show the status menu, but sadly the system does not then allow typing.

After that you can probably use a Click at Found image action to click the Paste menu item.

This was my first time experimenting with Click at Found image, so I opted to find the Keyboard Maestro icon, then type the keystrokes to get to the Paste menu. Until a Clipboard History Switcher update arrives, this will work. Thanks!

Peter, all I can say is WOW! :sunglasses:
What an incredible update! Thank you so much. You provide an incredible value.

This has pushed me over the edge. I'm upgrading to Yosemite ASAP.

One question: Can I share/sync the same macros between Ver 6 and Ver 7 as long as I don't use any Ver 7 features?
I store all my macros on DropBox so I can sync between my Macs.

Thanks!

No - syncing is strictly between identical versions only.

Don't blame me for Yosemite's quirks though - its mostly not that bad really, especially now they have most of the bugs out and are moving on to adding bugs in El Capitan instead…

Oh wow I just saw this and watched the video, there are so many features here that I had hoped would be in there. Love the actions comments update directly on the action, smart groups, updated onscreen image search commands and direct links to help for actions, to name only a few of what I am completely excited about!

I can’t wait to dive in and use, thank you Peter very much for all your amazing work, I feel so much better about transitioning from QuicKeys as painful as it was and still is, since I still have so many actions in QuicKeys to transfer over to Keyboard Maestro. I love the support and all your posts on the forum a major boon, you’re amazing! You’re one of those people that seem to have more than 24 hours in your day, or more likely just exceptionally brilliant !

Wow. An incredible list of improvements. The additions to the editing experience are tremendous, so much easier to keep complex macros well organized.

Fantastic upgrade, and a real bargain at $18. Thanks, Peter!

No doubt, it was a no brainer purchase. Nice touch with the "Thank You" when you enter in the update code. Did I just ruin the surprise?

Hi peternlewis,
I hope you will not get mad - but since thunderbolt trigger is not featured on the list, but I would like to ask will it be possible to get it implemented in foreseeable future?

I wont ever get mad at a feature request (well, I suppose its possible, but it would have to be a really bad feature!).

A thunderbolt trigger is on the todo list. Currently I have no time frame for it - probably not soon.

Not sure if you already have a work around. If not check out http://www.controlplaneapp.com/

I love the new options with the image find, very nice work, I am sure that took a lot of late night coding! Just to be certain is this image all the updates that have been added to the found image on screen? I just want to be sure I am not missing anything.

Also it seems like this post or a post like it with all the new features should be pinned on the forum so it doesn't get buried for someone that has been away. The details you listed are better than what's on the main Keyboard Maestro page.
